The Poet

Nakanishi debuted her first chapbook, Blood, Sweat and Breastmilk in 2016 which was ranked #1 in Asian-American Poetry on Amazon. 

Recipient of the Hot and Spicy Award for her poems: This P****y and Bracelets, Nakanishi was a finalist in the Women of The World Poetry Slam (HI) in 2016, her poem, Bracelets, was later nominated and used for Title IX, a state-wide Pau Violence initiative in Hawai'i, to promote awareness and hope for victims of sexual and domestic violence.

Her poems can be found in The Rainbird, Appetite for Evolution, UH Press, Pueo Publishing, and more.

Nakanishi facilitates workshops in her free time to promote Spoken Word/Slam Poetry, Theatre, and creative writing for at-risk youth.

Her forthcoming book, She Crazy, ​will be released in 2022.
